Depotting cream products + video demo!

You’re probably thinking…

Why would you need to depot your cream products all into one palette?

  • It saves space on your vanity
  • All your cream products can be found in one palette
  • Travel friendly
  • Easy storage

What can you depot?

Any cream product- cream highlighter, contour sticks, correctors, stick foundations, cream blush, etc.

No liquids!

P.S. It was my first time ever depotting anything so the outcome was a bit messy (which I don’t mind) but I’ll list some tips along the way so it’s not so messy.

Step 1:

Remove the product out of its packaging. Most of the time if it’s in a stick format it slides right out. If it’s in a pan you just have to scrape it out.

TIP: Make sure you’re not using a plastic spoon but actual silver so it doesn’t burn or melt.

Step 2:

Place it over a burning candle and let it melt. If you want it to melt quicker move it around with your knife. This process takes about 20 seconds.

TIP: If you have a microwave it’ll make this process a lot faster (10 seconds).

Step 3:

Once the product has melted and is in its liquid form, transfer it to the palette.

Step 4:

Scrape off the excess.

Step 5:

Remove the air bubbles as quickly as possible by moving your knife, cosmetic spatula, or toothpick around. You want to do this quickly because the product starts to cool almost immediately. Also, this is the part that gets messy. Once you’ve removed as much of the air bubbles as possible you can scrape off the excess product on your knife, on the sides of the palette (this part makes everything look messy). If you want a neater palette just remove your knife and let the product cool (downside: wastes some product).

Step 6:

The finished palette.

Does Lip Contouring Work?

Lip contouring has been a trending topic in the beauty community for months now. It’s a technique that has everyone jumping on the band wagon, but does it really work? Can you really draw a few lines on your lips to defy its natural appearance?

Here’s the problem…

Almost everybody is doing it WRONG!

All the trending videos and pictures I’ve seen on social media have been of people lining the crap out of their lips then applying the same colored lipstick. Umm, excuse me but how is that supposed to change the appearance of your lips? IT DOESN’T!

Below is a an example of how “contouring” your lips then applying a similar colored lipstick does absolutely nothing.

Do you see how the contour lines completely disappear because I applied a similar colored lipstick?

Now let me show you the correct way to contour your lips for a poutier effect…

lip contour correct

I merely lined my lips with a lip liner about 2 shades darker than my natural lip shade, then I applied a sheer gloss. With this technique your contour lines don’t go to waste, they actually contribute to the illusion of larger lips.

Another mistake most women make is contouring with dark contour shades (e.g. the ones you use for your face) instead of lip liners. Just as you would choose a contour shade according to your skin tone you do the same when it comes to your lips, you pick according to your lip tone.

If you are wondering what the best lip pencil is for your lip tone, then refer to the chart below.

Lets start with the glosses…

The packing is probably my favorite part because it has a light-up mirror installed in the tube, so when you are reapplying in a dark setting you won’t have an issue with lighting. It also comes with a mirror attached to the outside of the tube which makes it even easier to reapply on the go.

Another thing I love is that these glosses are pigmented, creamy, and really rich. Most are even opaque so you can wear them as is. My favorite color is “Butter Cream,” it’s a soft nude-pink that I wear on top of all my nude lipsticks.

Now, lets move onto the liquid lipsticks…

The formula of these are great but they can be drying if you haven’t hydrated your lips. They are very pigmented so one layer should be good and they don’t transfer. My favorite colors are “Ecstasy” & “Everything Nice.”

Juicy Grilled Rib Eye Steak

I have been teasing everyone with Snapchats of my steak recipe for months now. But, as promised here are the step-by-step details for my perfectly grilled juicy steak! I promise you this will be your weekly craving.

DSC08359

What you need:

  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Crushed Red Pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Lemon Pepper (Or regular black pepper)
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic
  • 2-3 Shallots
  • Steak Of Choice

Preparations:

Preheat the grill to 350 degrees.

Combine the soy sauce, spices, garlic, and shallots. Add to ziploc bag (easiest way to marinade).

Add the steak to the mixture and remove as much air as possible so the steak can soak up all the flavor.

Marinate the steak for at least 10 minutes (overnight is better).

Place the steak on the grill and pour some of that remaining marinade on top (save some for later as well).

Grill for about 5 minutes each side. Continuously coat the meat with the marinade until you are all out. I find that this technique intensifies the flavors.

Once the meat is done take it off the grill and set it aside to rest for a few minutes. This finishes the cooking process and keeps the steak juicy, so it’s crucial that you don’t skip this step!

I love drinking a glass (or two) of red wine with my meat, so pour yourself a glass and enjoy!
